EVENT FAQ

Do I need Mahjong experience to join?

No. The events are beginner-friendly. We will explain the basics and guide you step by step so you can start playing right away. Players with more experience will be seated together where possible so games stay enjoyable for everyone.

Do I need to come with a group?

No. Many participants come alone. Mahjong is played with four players per table, and we help seat everyone so it’s easy to meet new people. You’re also very welcome to join with your own group.

What if I already know how to play Mahjong?

Great! Experienced players are absolutely encouraged to join. You can play freely while others learn, and we’ll seat experienced players together when possible so the pace stays enjoyable. Different Mahjong styles are also welcome.

Do I need to bring anything?

No. Everything needed to play Mahjong will be provided. Of course, you are also welcome to bring your own Mahjong set if you’d like to play with it.

What time should I arrive?

Please arrive 10–15 minutes before the start so we can set up the tables and seat everyone. This also gives you time to grab a drink or bite while everything is being prepared before we begin the introduction together.

Which style of Mahjong do we teach?

Mahjong has many different styles, each with its own set of rules and scoring system. Players from all styles are welcome at this event. For beginners, we will teach Sichuan Mahjong, a fast-paced and beginner-friendly variation that is easy to learn and great for starting out.
